A Yantra means an apparatus for some special purpose. E.g. Vypar Vridhi Yantra - it is a yantra for increasing the business, and so on. Usually a yantra is made up of copper and contains some numbers, symbols or mantras. But a yantra can also be made up of gold, silver, iron, etched on stones, written on Bhoj Patra, etc.

For every Yantra, there is a special ritual for its preparation. E.g. it should be purchased in a special muhurta, in a particular star, on a particular day, etc. Similarly, it should be written in a special muhurta, in a particular star, on a particular day, etc. When writing on a Bhoj patra, a special ink has to be used, etc. After writing or etching, the Yantra should be duly pran-pritishithit, i.e. it should be energised with the power of Deity whom this Yantra wishes to invoke. To sum up, there is a set of rules for each Yantra according to the purpose for which it is being made and for which deity it is being made, etc.

Thus, you see it is not easy for everyone to prepare a yantra. Nowadays, all kinds of Yantras are available in the market. People take them home with faith and nothing happens. Why? Because this is not the actual yantra. Writing or etching some numbers, symbols or mantras on a copper plate does not make it a real Yantra. Following the ritual for preparation of a Yantra is the most important. Purchase the Yantra from a reputed astrologer (because then there is a guarantee of having followed all the rituals for preparation of the said yantra), get it pran-pritishithit by a reputed Karm-Kandi Pundit or astrologer, place it in your worship place or wear it, worship it daily by lighting incense, etc and recite its mantra. Then see the results of the Yantra.

A Yantra can be worn in the neck, can be kept in the purse or in the worship place of your house or at the business place. It is essential that a Yantra is worshipped daily after lighting incense, etc before it. If its mantra is also recited, it will give the optimum results.

If by chance a Yantra is broken, immerse the same in a flowing river. And get a new Yantra.
